Sam Gilliam, Rockne Krebs, Tom Downing, Clark Fox (aka Michael Clark) and the Washington Color School

Sam Gilliam, Rockne Krebs, and I shared a teacher back in the 1960s – Thomas Downing.  Funny, but when you’re a 19-year old kid, you don’t think about much except art.

So it came as a shock to me to learn from Sam (very recently) that my work influenced Tom.

I had a good laugh.
