WASHINGTON ART MATTERS: Art Life in the Capital 1940-1990

That’s a copy of a book published by the Washington Arts Museum in 2013. The book captures some of the “lost memories” of the Washington Color School, as well as the fascination we had with George Washington – the “Caunotaucarius”:

The book also sheds light on the second generation (as we – Sam Gilliam, Rockne Krebs, and me  were called), although we participated in celebrating the first generation of the WCS – Gene DavisMorris LouisKenneth NolandHoward MehringThomas “Tom” Downing, and Paul Reed.
